
Hillside PV plant power-boost coating
Hillside modules soiled by dust and bird droppings now self-clean in rain, with less manual cleaning and more output.
The problem
Modules on the hillside were covered by wind-blown sand, dust and bird droppings, cutting light transmission and creating hot spots. The terrain made manual cleaning slow and costly, and frequent cleaning risked damaging the modules.

What we did
- Site survey and selection of a comparison test array
- Small-area trial to measure power and current gain
- Cleaned modules with soft neutral water and specialist detergent — no dust, no oil film
- Semi-automatic spray once dry, ensuring even coverage
- Ambient cure ~4 h; collected generation data and delivered a report
Results and value
The modules now carry a super-hydrophilic, anti-static film: dust does not cling and rain washes it off. With the anti-reflective effect, plant output rises by about 3% or more while manual cleaning and O&M costs fall sharply.
