PV power boost · Case study

Desert PV plant power-boost coating

Sandstorms and dust hit desert plants hardest; the anti-static coating stops sand clinging so rain or a light rinse restores clean modules.

Plant typeDesert ground-mounted plant
Applied toCrystalline silicon PV modules
MethodSpecialist cleaning + spray application
ProductFeibo PV power-boost coating
Background

The problem

Sandstorms and constant dust fall coat the modules, cutting transmission, causing hot spots and even short-circuit risk. Water is scarce, so cleaning is extremely costly — the biggest challenge to plant returns.

Scope of work

What we did

  1. Surveyed soiling levels and selected a comparison test array
  2. Small-area trial to verify anti-static and transmission gains
  3. Specialist cleaning followed by spray application
  4. Ambient cure; monitored generation gain and delivered a report
Results

Results and value

Nano conductive additives bring surface resistance below 10⁹Ω: sand and dust barely cling and fall off easily. A little water restores clean modules, sharply cutting cleaning frequency and water use in the desert.
